It wasn’t my intention to do a Christmas post but a friend sent me this article and I felt it would be perfect if I posted it, after tweaking it a little bit of course. The aim is for people to be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. Read and enjoy…
Once upon a time, Christmas day was the most important day in the year where as children, we looked forward to it with unadulterated joy and awe which we experienced both inwardly and outwardly. This was a time when Christmas was special, not only because we expected gifts from the mythical Santa Claus or the Christmas day rice and chicken, but for the value – The reason for the season, which is the birth of our Lord Christ. Unfortunately, as time goes we humans begin to lose sight of the reason for celebrating Christmas. While talking to a friend, he mentioned he wasn’t doing anything for Christmas, that it was just another one of those days. I beg to disagree with him; “There is something special about this day, we are celebrating the birth of Christ”.
Christmas is not a concept, neither is it an invention but “living”. Christ was born on this day, and as humans it is important we celebrate by first reflecting on the mission of Christ “The reason for his birth among us – mankind” and secondly, be grateful and thankful for the love of the Almighty Father, looking down on the erring humanity and once again manifesting his love to us through the birth of his son, Christ.
On this note, I wish you all a Merry Christmas.
